I have come to realize that most Kenyans have a common trait. We have the tendency of 'treating' ourselves and not going to see a doctor.
We'd much rather go and explain our symptoms to a pharmacist and get drugs over the counter.
Once we see that the symptoms aren't going away, we panic and rush to hospital and pray that the doctor will be able to treat whatever it is that the pharmacist couldn't "cure". We end up spending almost twice as much the amount we would have spent had we gone directly to see the doctor.
Sometimes, you go to hospital and you hear the doctors say, "had you come sooner, we would have been able to save you" Or you hear some say, "Because you ignored the symptoms, the disease has spread to most parts of your body and there is nothing much we can do now."
I am not saying pharmacists are bad. All I am saying is, LET EVERYONE DO THEIR JOB.
Let the doctor examine you, give his diagnosis, send you to the lab, do whatever else he/she deems appropriate and finally give you a prescription.
Now this is where a pharmacist comes in. Their work is to dispense the prescribed drugs. They work hand in hand just different job descriptions.
The doctor didn't go to school for all those years for nothing. He knows exactly what he is doing.
Some people claim that going to hospital is expensive but I believe you can not put a price on your health. Plus not all hospitals are expensive.
Take care of yourself bacause you only have one life and one body and you need it for you to fulfill your God given purpose...
Stay Safe..
